Pros of Working From home

I have been working from home for the past 2 years now and I could never imagen I would be able to be my own boss at such a young age (currently 21 yrs). I started working with my boyfriend to build our own online marketing agency, Ad and Art, along with my Youtube Channel, Blog, and current vegan website, when I was still working as a travel agent for a big all inclusive hotel company.

This job gave me comfort and a good living, but it wasn't making me happy or accomplished at all. That is why I decided that the best way for me to live a happy life would be through my own means without having to work for anyone else.

This transition was both scary and exciting all at once! If you are considering being your own boss then I hope by sharing the pros of being self employed you will give yourself the chance to try it.

Building your own dreams

“Build your own dreams, or someone else will hire you to build theirs.” —Farrah Gray

The most beautiful thing about working for yourself is that the possibilities are endless. You have the opportunity to profit out of what truly makes you happy. When you love what you do it never becomes work. You can start that online magazine you have always dreamed of putting together, or you can open that coffee shop you have always wanted to open. The truth is whatever you choose to do will bring you joy even if you don't become a millionaire out of it because what you are doing is for you and no one else.

Your Business Your Schedule

Whether you are a night owl or a morning person you make your own schedule when it comes to your work. In my personal case I have to possibility of working from 10 am to 1pm and then exercise, have lunch, take a nap, and then go back to work if I want to or have to after 4pm. You can choose your schedule however you see fit. I would never let anyone else manage or arrange my precious time through out the day ever again.

Empowerment and Confidence

At first having to deal with your clients, and having to be the boss may feel haunting and stressful, but with time and practice ( and a bit of screwing up too) you will feel like you actually know what you are doing, and that you can actually be a problem solver. That feeling my friend gives you the confidence no other job can give you. This not only impacts your work positively but also you regular life, and who doesn't want to feel empowered, happy, and confident?

Effort = Money

Some people may put this as a con of being self employed but for me this is a Pro. Depending on how lazy or efficient you want to be the truth is that your effort will directly relate to your revenue. If this month you feel like doing nothing, you will probably earn very little, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. If you are like me and you save money you CAN give yourself the opportunity of procrastinating for a while, and then go back to making money, and making a great effort.

No Dress Code

I for one don't like people telling me what to wear, or what hair cut is more appropriate, etc. When you work for yourself you can choose to work at home, and working in your pajamas won't affect the quality of what ever it is you are doing! So go crazy! Get that hair dyed pink, or that piercing you wanted to get! No one at home can fire you for that!

There are obviously much more Pros of being self employed, and there are a few cons which I will share with you in another blog! but I hope that this can help you make that jump towards an independent, free, and self employed life.  Good luck!
